Engine-347 Ford
 

Eight Stack adds 25 H.P. and 26 lbs. ft. of torque.
 

This test involved the comparison between Eight Stack and an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap and Holley 750 cfm carb on a 347 Ford Stroker built and offered by T&L Engine Development. The impressive 347 Stroker was equipped with: (unported) Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads, a hydraulic roller cam that offered .576/.586 lift, 224/232 duration and a tight 108 degree lobe separation angle. All testing was run on the Superflow engine dyno through a set of performance 4:1 step headers. Both the carbureted and injected combinations were optimized for air/fuel (13.0:1) and timing 34 degrees total. All temperatures (air, oil, and water) were kept constant for all testing. We then tested the combination equipped with the carburetor and dual-plane Performer RPM Air Gap intake. The 347 responded with 430 horsepower and 421 lbs. ft. of torque. After swapping the Eight Stack system, the peak numbers jumped to 455 horsepower and 445 ft. lbs. of torque. The Eight Stack system improved the power output throughout the rpm range by as much as 25 horsepower and 26 ft. lbs. of torque.

This test involved the comparison between Eight Stack and an Edelbrock Performer RPM II EFI System on a Ford Racing 347 Crate Motor installed on a V8 powered Ford Focus. The RPM II EFI System was fed by a 75 MM Accufab Throttle Body and 80 mm MAF using the factory EEC-IV management system. As with all of the Eight Stack testing, the Air/Fuel (13.0:1) and timing (32 degrees) were optimized for this testing and all critical temperatures were kept constant. The 347 crate motor was equipped with a set of z304 aluminum heads, a hydraulic roller cam that offered .580/.602 lift, 232/240 duration, and 112 degrees lobe separation. Equipped with the RPM II induction, the 347 Crate Motor produced 323 horsepower and 342 lbs. ft. torque at the wheels measured on a Dynojet. These peak values jumped to 390 horsepower and 386 lbs. ft. torque after the installation of the Eight Stack. The Eight Stack system improved horsepower. and torque production throughout the rev range. The Eight Stack system increased power output by as much as 74 horsepower. and 66 lbs. ft. of torque.

This test involved the comparison between the Eight Stack fuel injection and a single-plane Funnel Web intake manifold topped off with a Barry Grant 750 Mighty Demon carburetor. The Ford Racing 331 Stroker crate motor featured a set of CNC ported z304 heads, a wild solid-flat tappet cam and MSD distributor. Both the carbureted and injected combinations were run at the same air/water and oil temperatures and were tuned to maximize performance. Run with the single plane intake and carburetor, the motor created 527 horsepower. and 406 ft. lbs. of torque. Run with the Eight Stack, the motor produced 513 horsepower. and 418 ft. lbs. of torque. A review of the horsepower and torque curves of the graph illustrate that the Eight Stack injection produced more horsepower and torque through the 4000 to 6900 rpm range. The absolute peak power was down slightly, most likely due to the base intake manifold. Changes have been incorporated to further improve the peak potential, but the Eight Stack system offered gains of 30 horsepower. and 35 ft. lbs. of torque over the carburetor.
